In this film, I created sound design for various environments and atmospheres, enhancing the sounds of kitchen items and cooking, adding vibrant soundscapes to cars, restaurants, and street scenes, and much more. The film was very well received and enjoyed great success in theaters across Poland, Germany and Ukraine.
About the film: In a small town where Varya (Irina Kudashova) grew up, there are unfortunately no connoisseurs of haute cuisine. Therefore, all her efforts to impress with incredible combinations of flavors went unnoticed. Disappointed that no one appreciated her endeavors, Varya moves to Lviv, hoping to become a chef in an exquisite restaurant. Her path to success would have been much more difficult if not for a chance discovery. She comes across a book written almost a hundred years ago by Olga Franko (Irma Vitovska).
The drama-comedy “The Taste of Freedom” was directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Oleksandr Berezan. Like the director’s previous film “Noble Tramps,” the new one was shot mainly in Lviv. The project won state funding through a competitive selection by the State Film Agency. The film was originally slated for release in 2022. The inspiration for the story came from the 1929 book “The First Ukrainian General Practical Cuisine,” written by Olga Franko.
